# Oria, by Agent Oria, for Quebec notaries: the AI you can call, locked in your office

Quebec's private AI, locked in your office

Oria, by Agent Oria, is the only commercial AI in the world installed in your office that you call and text at its own number, for your files and calendar. As of October 31, 2026, four different AIs searched in five languages and found no other product of this kind. It is Quebec's private AI, locked in your office. You no longer have to transcribe your meetings or hunt for your documents. Oria takes care of that. It is an on-premise AI appliance that works on your files without using the internet.

Oria is a machine installed in your office. It does the groundwork and writes a draft that you correct. The corrected text becomes yours.

## Call Oria from a client's place

Oria has its own phone number. Call or text it, and ask what a document in the file says. It answers you out loud or by text.

[See: calls](/en/specifications#call-and-talk-to-your-ai-or-text-it-over-the-cellular-network)

## Your meetings transcribed, speaker by speaker

Give Oria the recording of a meeting, and it transcribes it right on the machine. Teach it to recognize the voices of the people in your office, and it puts each person's name before their words. For every minute it works, it transcribes **24 minutes** of a meeting with several speakers. For a verified transcript, it listens to each passage again and gives you a list of the ones to check.

[See: speaker-by-speaker transcription](/en/specifications#your-meetings-transcribed-speaker-by-speaker)

## Find a document without knowing its name

Can't remember the file's name or which folder it's in? Describe it to Oria the way you remember it:

“find the Dupont lease”

Oria finds it on the machine and, if you ask, on the office computers.

[See: how Oria finds your documents](/en/specifications#find-a-document-without-knowing-its-name)

## A document read from beginning to end

Attach a PDF or a word-processing document, even a scanned one. Oria reads the whole thing, up to **500 pages** when it's set up for one person. It needs **about 4 minutes** to read a whole book.

Attach an image of a page, and Oria describes the seal or signature it sees there.

## Not sure about a PDF in your client files?

Type `/authenticite` (authenticity) in the conversation, then the PDF's name. Oria tells you which software produced that PDF. It also gives you the dates and changes recorded in the PDF.

## Up-to-date notes for each client file

Tell Oria:

“add to the notes on the Dupont file: …”

In the same sentence, say what it should remember. Each time you have more to add, just tell Oria. It adds it to the notes.

## Your ideas, written into your documents

Have an idea for a contract? Say it to Oria or type it. Say which document to add it to:

“add this to the Dupont contract on Julie's PC”

Oria puts your text in the right place without changing a word. Before it writes, it always saves a copy of the file on the machine.

[See: your ideas in your documents](/en/specifications#your-ideas-written-into-your-documents)

## A clean copy before you send

Before you send a contract, say:

“make a clean copy of the Dupont contract”

Oria makes a clean copy alongside the original, without comments or hidden information. The original doesn't change.

[See: what the clean copy removes](/en/specifications#a-clean-copy-before-you-send)

## Your calendar, the way a secretary keeps it

To add an appointment, just ask Oria, out loud or in writing:

“add an appointment Thursday at 9 am to Julie's calendar, with an alert”

Oria points out any other appointment that makes this one difficult or impossible. It also calculates deadlines set by law, puts them in the calendar and sends you a reminder **7 days before** and again **2 days before**.

## Keep your backup on another computer

Oria's backup holds your user accounts, your conversations and your documents. Download it to another computer in your office, and it stays there, even if the machine fails.

[See: the backup](/en/specifications#keep-your-backup-on-another-computer)

## Your client files stay in the office

Oria does everything on the machine, in your office. Lock its master switch with your password, and it becomes a vault, cut off from the internet and from all outside access. The connection stays in your office, between Oria and your computers.

## What the Chambre des notaires says

Your professional order, the Chambre des notaires, has a page called “[Sécurité notariale à l'ère technologique](https://www.cnq.org/votre-notaire/un-professionnel-numerique/securite-notariale-a-lere-technologique/)” (notarial security in the digital age). It reminds you that you collect personal information about your client and about any signatory to the deed. Under the heading “Conservation de vos données personnelles” (keeping your personal data), it then writes, in our translation:

“The notary has a duty to ensure the confidentiality and protection of this data. Using technological tools does not change this duty in any way. (…)”

> « Le notaire a l’obligation d’assurer la confidentialité et la protection de ces données.
>
> L’utilisation d’outils technologiques ne change rien à cette obligation. (…) »

With Oria, your client files stay on the machine, in your office.

## What the regulation says about your client files

Here are four sections of the [Règlement sur la tenue des dossiers et des études des notaires (N-3, r. 17)](https://www.legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca/fr/document/rc/N-3,%20r.%2017), the regulation on the keeping of notaries' records and offices. LégisQuébec publishes it in French only, so our translation comes first.

Section 16, your data on a computer

“A notary who uses a computer to process and keep all or part of the elements, information and documents relating to a file must:\
(1) back up the data collected this way and keep a copy of it in accordance with section 32.\
(2) use a database separate from any other to keep the files covered by this regulation.\
(3) protect access to this data, in particular by using a password.”

>
> 1° sauvegarder les données ainsi recueillies et en conserver une copie conformément à l’article 32;
>
> 2° utiliser une base de données distincte de toute autre pour la tenue des dossiers visés au présent règlement;
>
> 3° protéger l’accès de ces données notamment par l’utilisation d’un mot de passe. »

Section 20, keeping each client file at least 10 years

“A notary must keep each file for a period of at least 10 years from the last professional service rendered.”

Section 23, where to keep your client files

“A notary must keep their records of deeds, repertory, index, trust accounting books and registers and the files covered by chapter I. The notary must keep them in the notary's office or in any other place determined by the board of directors. The secretary of the Chambre may, however, give written authorization to keep them, in whole or in part, in another place in accordance with section 32.”

Section 32, the vault or safe

“A notary keeps their minutes, repertory, index, trust accounting books, application software, including in particular management, database and accounting software, the updates and the backup copies of data. The notary keeps all of these in a vault or safe guaranteed to resist fire at 927 °C for at least 1 hour.”

## Your questions about AI in a notary's office

**Can AI do a notary's work?** It can do the groundwork. Oria transcribes your meetings and searches your client files. It also writes a draft for you to correct. The deed remains yours, since you're the one who receives and signs it.

**Can an AI keep a notary's client files confidential?** Yes. With Oria, your client files and your conversations stay on the machine, in your office.

**Can AI help with title examination in Quebec?** Yes, it can help you read the documents. Oria reads each document you attach from start to finish, then answers your questions about its content. You examine the titles and form your own opinion.
